The Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) has extended warm felicitations to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the people of Delta State as the state clocks 34 years since its creation.
Delta State, established on August 27, 1991, by former Military President Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, has grown into one of Nigeria’s most vibrant states—renowned for its cultural heritage, infrastructural progress, and policies designed to improve the lives of its citizens.
In a goodwill message signed by its Publicity Secretary, Ehvwubare Oghenekparobo, the Forum applauded Governor Oborevwori’s leadership, particularly the steady progress of his M.O.R.E Agenda. DOPF noted that the Governor’s emphasis on meaningful development, opportunities for all, and enhanced peace and security is already visible in road projects and infrastructure renewal across the state.
While celebrating Delta’s milestones, the Forum acknowledged the resilience of the people and the contributions of past leaders in shaping the state’s trajectory. However, it also identified industrial expansion and security as persistent challenges requiring urgent attention.
The group urged Governor Oborevwori to mark the anniversary with decisive action by assenting to the recently passed Community Security Bill. According to the Forum, once operational, the law would strengthen grassroots security architecture, complementing existing measures against crime and fostering safer communities for businesses and residents alike.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we salute the courage and determination of Deltans, whose collective drive has propelled the state forward,” the statement read.
DOPF reaffirmed its pledge to partner with government through responsible journalism, constructive analysis, and balanced reportage in pursuit of a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Delta State.
