Egbo Vows to Protect Students, Strengthen School Security

The Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council, Olorogun (Barr) Jaro Movudu Egbo KSC, has pledged to protect students and pupils in the local government area, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment.

Egbo gave the assurance during an official visit to Ohrisi Basic Secondary School and the Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) in Ughelli metropolis. The visit follows a recent incident in which students of the Institute of Continuing Education were allegedly attacked by their counterparts from Ohrisi Basic Secondary School.

Addressing the students of both the institutions, the Council Chairman expressed strong dissatisfaction over the incident and termed it a serious act and an attempt to murder. Egbo said firmly, “Under my watch, I will not tolerate any form of misbehavior from students, nor will I condone parents confronting teachers to discipline their children.”

He urged the students to remain focused on their education and stressed its importance as a lifelong asset. He advised, “You are on the right track. Education is not a scam. It is the greatest inheritance any parent can give to a child and the foundation for success in life. If you want to surpass my achievements, you must respect your teachers.”

Egbo further assured the students that those responsible for the incident will be brought to justice. He said, “I assure you that the perpetrators will be held accountable under the law. Those involved in this unfortunate incident will have to face the consequences of their actions.

The Delta State Government is committed to ensuring your safety, and I am dedicated to your safety.” Council boss reiterates his resolve to continue promoting and maintaining discipline in schools.
