Olorogun Ogheneruemu Evuetapha has been conferred with the prestigious title of ‘Izomo’ of Ughievwen Kingdom by His Royal Majesty, Matthew Ediri Egbi, Owahwa II, Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom.
The conferment ceremony held at Otughievwen (Otu-Jeremi), headquarters of Ughelli South Local Government Area in Delta State,
The Izomo of Ughievwen is the title held by the supreme war chief and acts as the defender and protector in the ancient Ughievwen Kingdom, the third highest-ranking chief after the Okobaro and Iyasere, and traditionally resides in OTOKUTU with a semi-independent status.
The title, meaning “great son,” is considered very precious to the kingdom and was bestowed upon Chief Evuetapha after he was found worthy by the palace Chieftaincy Screening Committee.
Interestingly, Chief Evuetapha’s late father held the same title until his demise, so this conferment can be seen as a renewal of the title.
The Okobaro urged Chief Evuetapha to be humble and remain a good ambassador of the kingdom, while also reminding him of the enormous responsibilities associated with the title.
The President General of Ughievwen Kingdom, Chief Patrick Wheleke, advised Chief Evuetapha to uphold the title with pride and avoid actions that could bring it into disrepute.
Chief Wheleke also appealed to the people of Ughievwen to maintain the prevailing peace in the kingdom in order to attract further development.
In an interview, Chief Ogheneruemu Evuetapha thanked the Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom for the honor bestowed upon him and assured that he is ready to contribute positively to the development of Ughievwen Kingdom.
The ceremony was attended by notable personalities, including the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, Ovie of Agbarha-Otor Kingdom, and Ovie of Arhavwarien Kingdom.
