Free Nigeria Movement Group calls for immediate release of electoral materials to Delta APC

A group, Free Nigeria Movement, has frowned at the alleged refusal to allow the All Progressives Congress, APC, access to electoral materials in the just-concluded governorship poll in Delta State, claiming that the PDP was attempting to cover up the alleged “manipulation” that took place during the 2023 election.

The APC said it has evidence that the process was characterized by irregularities and that the people of the Delta state were denied the right to freely express their will, adding that the state government led by Ifeanyi Okowa of the PDP is frustrating its efforts to access the electoral materials.

Recall that Sheriff Oborevwori, candidate of the PDP, was declared winner of the March 18 election with 360,234 votes. Oborevwori defeated Ovie Omo-Agege of the APC, who polled 240,229 votes.

However, as reported by YourCitiNews, the APC and its candidate, Ovie Omo-Agege rejected the outcome of the election, alleging that the collation of the election results was not in line with the electoral act of 2022.

Reacting to the development, leader of the group, Moses Paul, called for the immediate release of all electoral materials to the APC saying that courts must never be used as instruments to fuel political desperation.

“As a group, we will continue to demand that the right thing be done to save our democracy and nation from collapse. The walls of tolerance, cohesion, and inclusion that turned during the 2023 general elections must be rebuilt. One way to begin is through justice.

“Therefore, attempts to deny the APC access to electoral materials in Delta State, is most disgraceful and unfortunate.

“We are a country of laws and must remain within the law in all our dealings. People must never be gagged from pursuing legitimate causes to prove their case. We call for the immediate release of all electoral materials to the APC in Delta State.

“The courts must never be used as an instrument to fuel the desperation of politicians and their surrogates,” he added.
