The Student Senate of Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun has held a Leadership and Legislative Summit which featured the unveiling of student legislative projects, the launch of magazines, the Senate Building project, as well as a cultural dance by NUUS FUPRE.
Declaring the summit open, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Professor Osafile Omosede, who spoke on the theme “Academic Excellence and Leadership: Striking the Balance for Sustainable Growth”, commended the Senate Assembly for creating an avenue that fosters youth leadership and civic engagement.
Chairman of the occasion, DESOPADEC Commissioner representing Udu, Uvwie, Ughelli South and Urhobos in Warri South, Hon. Goru Oghenekaro Jonathan, urged students to see the summit as a platform to shape their lives while calling on them to remain focused on their studies.
Also speaking, The Member representing Ughelli North Constituency 2 at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Spencer Owhofa, alongside the Secretary to Uvwie Local Government Chairman, Hon. Graham Osakwe, and Mrs. Bessy Acije, emphasized the need for students to embrace effective delegation in order to get rapid and positive responses to their demands.

Senate President of the 13th Legislative Assembly, Senator Revelation Ugbogbo, said the summit provided an opportunity for students to engage with experienced mentors, including politicians, civil society activists, and industry experts, who shared valuable insights on leadership and civic responsibility.
While unveiling the projects, Senator Ugbogbo appealed for support from stakeholders, promising to sponsor legislative bills that would protect students’ rights and strengthen harmony with the school management to create a more conducive learning environment.
Donations were made in support of the FUPRE Senate Building project and magazines.
