Nigerian celebrity chef and culinary star Hilda Baci has been awarded her second Guinness World Record plaque, officially honoring her incredible feat of cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
The Guinness World Records confirmed that Baci prepared a staggering 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds) of jollof rice during a cookout in Lagos in September, setting a new global record.
This recognition comes less than a year after her first landmark achievement in May 2023, when she completed a 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon, earning her a spot in the Guinness World Records as one of the most resilient chefs worldwide. Sharing the exciting news on Instagram, Baci posted photos of her two Guinness plaques.
“Our plaques are finally here! Two records. Two plaques. One story of faith, fire, and history. Twice, God showed up for me. Twice, we made history for Nigeria.”
Hilda Baci described her consecutive achievements as a testament to Nigeria’s creativity and culinary excellence, highlighting that both moments reflected faith, resilience, and purpose. “Together with Gino, we created something bigger than ourselves a story that reached over five billion people and showed the world what’s possible when passion meets purpose. I’m a two-time world record holder someone pinch me!” she exclaimed.
Baci also referenced Isaiah 61:7, noting that her journey proves that “instead of shame, you will receive a double portion, and everlasting joy will be yours.”
