The flyover project at Uromi Junction, Agbor, one of the most significant approvals by the Delta State Executive Council, is being handled by renowned construction giant Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.
According to the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, the project features a 30-meter span beam, significantly longer than what is typically used in similar projects across the country, including those in Warri.
Due to the beam’s unusual length and engineering complexity, specialized equipment not currently available in Nigeria will be imported from Germany. This requirement contributes to the higher cost of the project, estimated at ₦59.7 billion.
The Commissioner described the intervention as strategic and life-saving, noting that Uromi Junction has historically recorded frequent fatal accidents, particularly involving night travelers heading to Abuja. Once completed, the flyover will enhance road safety, traffic flow, and economic productivity in Agbor and surrounding agrarian communities.
The project underlines Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to quality infrastructure, engaging top-tier contractors, and investing in durable, future-ready solutions.
