Just In: Delta Governor Presents ₦1.664 Trillion 2026 Budget, Prioritises Infrastructure, Social Services and Economic Growth

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has presented the proposed ₦1.664 trillion 2026 Budget Estimates to the Delta State House of Assembly during a formal session at the Assembly Complex in Asaba.

Titled “Budget of Accelerating the MORE Agenda,” the fiscal proposal outlines the administration’s strategy for sustaining development gains and driving statewide progress in the coming year.

According to the Governor, the 2026 budget is structured to consolidate ongoing projects, expand infrastructure, strengthen public institutions and enhance service delivery across all sectors. He emphasised that the State’s stable financial standing, improved revenue performance and disciplined fiscal management have enabled continued investments in key areas such as roads, healthcare, education, markets and community development programmes under the MORE Agenda.

Oborevwori explained that the new fiscal plan aims to deepen economic gains, stimulate sustainable growth and improve the security architecture while delivering programmes that directly impact citizens across the 25 local government areas. The Governor also highlighted the importance of maintaining development momentum to ensure that the benefits of government interventions are felt equitably throughout the state.

He stressed that the budget reflects his administration’s commitment to transparency, prudent governance and accountability, noting that careful resource allocation remains crucial to long-term stability and inclusive development.

The budget presentation sets the stage for legislative consideration as the state prepares for the 2026 financial year.

The Governor reaffirmed that the administration will continue to pursue a development model anchored on efficiency, service improvement and measurable progress in social and economic sectors statewide.
