As part of activities to mark the 2025 International day of persons living with disabilities, Chairman of Isoko South Local Government, Comrade Friday Warri has charged people living with disabilities in the Area not to see their conditions as an impediment that would hinder their overall development.
Comrade Warri gave the charge in Oleh headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area, during this year’s commemoration of the International day of persons living with disabilities.
Chairman of Isoko South Local Government, Comrade Friday Warri in his remark stated the fundamental principles that every individual, regardless of ability has the right to participate fully in society.
Comrade Friday Warri therefore, called on all well meaning Nigerians both at home and in diaspora to collaborate with Government to make a difference in the lives of persons living with disability.
He however, pledged his commitments towards improving their welfare in the coming years with the view of integrating them into the society.
The Council Chairman Comrade Friday Warri however , advised Isoko South persons living with disabilities to look inward to develop their hidden potentials to compliment whatever investment that might come from Government as an assistance.
He therefore, stated that by the special grace of God next year’s commemoration of International day of persons living with disabilities would be improved upon by the Local Government.
Earlier, in an address presented by Mr Sammy Emmanuel on behalf of the Chairman Joint National Association of persons with disabilities Isoko South Chapter, Mr Glory Obro requested the Council Chairman to establish a skill acquisition centre to equip persons with disabilities with vocational skills, create disability Desk in the Local Government, organize regular health check -up and rehabilitation programs amongst others.
Persons living with disabilities also awarded the Isoko South Local Government Chairman, Comrade Friday Warri with an award of Best Local Government Chairman of the universe for His outstanding contribution towards their welfare.
Responding to the award , Comrade Warri pointed out that he cherishes the award coming from persons living with disabilities more than all the awards he has been given.
Highlight of the celebration was the presentation of bags of rice and cash gifts to persons living with disabilities to commemorate their day as well as special display by Pupils of Owara Primary school Oleh ,pupils living with disabilities to spice the day.
