Mulade Lauds Governor Oborevwori’s Development, Calls for Political Restraint

Renowned Niger Delta environmental and human rights advocate, Chief Mulade Sheriff, PhD, has called on politicians in Delta State to avoid actions that could distract Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as the state approaches the 2027 governorship election.

He emphasized that the governor’s outstanding performance warrants the opportunity to build on his ongoing developmental achievements.

Chief Mulade made the appeal while praising Governor Oborevwori for the groundbreaking of the N59.7 billion Lagos–Asaba Expressway Flyover at the Agbor-Uromi Junction, describing the project as a bold, people-centered initiative by the state government.

Speaking to journalists in Asaba after the ceremony, the Ijaw leader and development advocate highlighted that the governor’s track record in office makes a strong case for continuity. He stressed that governance, rather than politics, should remain the priority at this stage. Chief Mulade noted that the flyover is a strategic infrastructure investment that will boost economic activity, ease traffic congestion, and improve safety along the busy Agbor-Uromi corridor.

The Ibe-Serimowei of the oil-rich Gbaramatu Kingdom also commended Governor Oborevwori for recently presenting 65 brand-new SUVs to traditional rulers across the state, calling it a sign of respect for cultural custodians and grassroots leadership.

Chief Mulade underscored that the consistency and scale of development across Delta State justify calls for the governor to continue beyond 2027. He urged political actors to prioritize the collective interests of the state over personal ambitions and appealed for their support in allowing the governor to remain focused on governance, with more projects expected, particularly in the riverine communities.
