The Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to tackling the growing insecurity in Asaba and its environs, assuring residents of enhanced collaboration with other security agencies.
National Deputy Commander of Operations, D.C. Peter Obus, gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty Professor Epiphany Azinge, SAN, at his palace.
He acknowledged some operational challenges, particularly the temporary relocation of the NFSS office from the state capital, but described them as surmountable. “With the support of the Asaba community and sister agencies, we have the manpower and resolve to curb criminality across Asaba and surrounding areas,” he declared.
In his response, the revered monarch commended the NFSS for its often-unsung efforts in securing Nigeria’s forest reserves and combating banditry, kidnapping, and other crimes.
“Security challenges are a national malaise affecting both military and paramilitary formations,” Obi Azinge noted, urging the NFSS leadership to remain steadfast and sincere.
The Asagba promised expeditious resolution of the office closure issue, stressing that the community was fully prepared to partner with the agency.
“Asaba needs the presence and support of the NFSS now more than ever,” he said.
He particularly applauded D.C. Obus for integrating indigenes of Asaba into the service, emphasising that proper training and guidance would strengthen the organisation’s effectiveness.
The royal father called for sustained synergy among security outfits, describing the NFSS as a critical component in the fight against insecurity in Delta State and beyond.
The visit underscored growing cooperation between traditional institutions and security agencies as communities seek lasting solutions to the wave of criminality plaguing the region.
