Obaseki unveils book in honour of Okowa at Valedictory Dinner in Asaba

The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has unveiled a book titled ‘Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Politics and Power,’ written in honour of his Delta State counterpart, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, describing Okowa as a unifier because he ensured Edo and Delta States remained united.

The valedictory dinner held in Asaba, in honor of the out going Governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa and his Deputy, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro.

Other dignitaries at the dinner include former Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan; Delta State Governor-elect, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and Deputy Governor of the State, Kingsley Otuaro.

Obaseki asserted that, no matter what people think about the Okowa-led administration, history will be kind to Okowa for leading the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) victoriously in the 2023 governorship election, adding that history has recorded Okowa’s achievements while on the saddle for eight years.

“Okowa is a unifier while other regions are pulling apart, he has been a partner pulling Edo and Delta states together. That is the leadership qualities he has that other leaders need to cultivate and emulate.

“I am here to celebrate and thank God for the life of our own chairman, Chairman of the South-South Governors Forum. You have done your part and that’s all you can do and we thank God for your wife and family that have been a pillar of support all through these eight years.

“I want to thank God that you have kept the tradition, you have played your own part, you have run your own session of the race. You inherited a Delta that is PDP and you are handing on a Delta that is PDP to your successor.

“People will have their own versions of history but history is history and history has recorded what you have achieved for your people in Delta State.

“I congratulate you and thank God for your life that as you move to the next phase of your calling, the Lord who has seen you through will be there to support you,” he stated.

“I congratulate the governor-elect and his deputy and urge them to continue from where Okowa stopped. Governor-elect, you are coming to join the class of Governors of 2023 and I am the senior prefect of that class and you have to learn the lessons of that class. Okowa who taught us will teach you some lessons before you resume class on May 29th, 2023.”

Governor Okowa who was very emotional, thanked Deltans, legislature and the judiciary for their civil service, contributions to his administration’s success and also for giving him and his deputy the opportunity to serve the state for eight years.

“There is no doubt that we had some happy moments but we also had some challenging moments. Several challenges came our way but God was with us all through.

“God was with us and He will be with you through your tenure,” he said. Obaseki unveils book in honour of Okowa at Valedictory Dinner in AsabaObaseki unveils book in honour of Okowa at Valedictory Dinner in Asaba
