Obi Oputa III presents full university scholarships to seven indigent students in Ndokwa

History was made in the ancient Aboh Kingdom as seven indigent students of Ndokwa extraction were awarded full university scholarships by the Greg Oputa International Educational Foundation, in collaboration with the Ultimate Tenderhelp Foundation.

The scholarship scheme, presented during the Annual Raising Role Models Initiative Mega Conference, will cover five years of university education for each beneficiary, in any Nigerian university of their choice. In addition to the seven full scholarships, several other underprivileged students also received educational support in various categories.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Obi Oputa III emphasized that the scholarship programme is a yearly event aimed at promoting academic excellence and catalyzing socio-economic transformation in the region. He urged the students to make the most of the opportunity, cautioning them against drug abuse and other societal vices.

Also present at the event was the traditional ruler of Agbara Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Kingsley Orereh, who delivered a motivational speech, encouraging students to remain committed to their academic journey. He emphasized the transformative power of education and donated ₦3 million to support the scholarship scheme.

Dr. Pastor Lovett Iyonawan, President and Founder of the Ultimate Tenderhelp Foundation, expressed joy at the continued success of the initiative, which has been running since 1999. She praised the commitment of donors and thanked God for sustaining the programme.

Additional support came from the Delta State Commissioner for Finance, Chief Fidelix Okenmor Tilije, and Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, the member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the National Assembly—both donating ₦2 million each.

The students, visibly moved, expressed their gratitude and pledged to excel academically, vowing to represent their families, schools, and Ndokwa Nation with pride and integrity.

The event also featured the Brain Champ Quiz Competition, where Master Edafe Kelvin of Ndam Secondary School, Beneku, emerged overall winner. He was followed by Master Alika Destiny of Utagba-Ogbe Grammar School and Master Isomi Joel of Aboh Grammar School.
