Oborevwori Administration Accelerates Infrastructure Projects as Warri Stadium, DSC Link Road Near Key Milestones

The drive to reposition Warri as a modern commercial and sporting hub is gaining momentum, as the Delta State Government intensifies work on major infrastructure projects in the city.

The development reflects Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to delivering high-impact facilities under the M.O.R.E Agenda, which prioritizes meaningful urban renewal and improved public utility systems.

During a project inspection on Thursday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring and Audit, Engr. Goodnews Agbi, expressed confidence in the pace and quality of construction at the Warri City Stadium.

He stated that the stadium rehabilitation is progressing ahead of schedule, noting that key structural adjustments have already been completed.

One of the most significant upgrades, Agbi revealed, is the raising of the playing field by approximately 400 millimetres to address the longstanding problem of waterlogging and poor drainage.

This improvement is expected to ensure better pitch durability and enhance year-round usability for sporting events.

He further disclosed that the football pitch, stands, and internal facilities are projected to be ready before December, positioning the stadium for renewed sporting and community activities.

At the DSC Link Road, another strategic infrastructure project aimed at improving traffic flow and boosting economic connectivity within Warri and its adjoining districts, Agbi acknowledged the commendable progress by contractors. However, he emphasized the need for corrective adjustments in certain road sections to guarantee efficient water discharge and long-term durability.

He assured residents that the state government will maintain close supervision and continue engaging contractors to ensure the highest quality of execution, stating:

“This administration is committed not just to completing projects, but to building infrastructure that stands the test of time.”

The inspection marks another step in Warri’s ongoing transformation, reinforcing the government’s pledge to deliver projects that enhance commerce, recreation, and the everyday lives of citizens across Delta State.
