Oborevwori Approves 2025 Bursary Awards for Delta Students

Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has given approval for the 2025 bursary awards for students in both public and private tertiary institutions across Nigeria, underscoring his administration’s strong commitment to education and student welfare.

The approval also includes scholarships for students with disabilities, children of deceased civil servants, and financial support for Delta State students attending the Nigerian Law School.

This was made known by the Executive Secretary of the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, Dr. Godfrey Enita, on Thursday, February 12, 2026, during a meeting with the national executives of the National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU). According to Dr. Enita, the governor’s decision is aimed at easing the financial strain faced by students and their families amid current economic challenges. He explained that the meeting was called in response to concerns about delays in the 2025 bursary payments and assured stakeholders that disbursement has already begun for all approved beneficiaries.

In total, 33,064 students will benefit from the bursary scheme. Additionally, 545 children of deceased civil servants, 51 students with disabilities, and 533 Law School students will receive scholarships or special financial assistance. The initiative reflects the administration’s recognition of education as a vital driver of sustainable development and human capital growth in the state.

Reacting to the announcement, NADESSTU’s national executives, led by President Comrade Oweiotu-Ebi Joseph and Senate President Comrade Idiseru Alex, expressed gratitude to the governor, describing the approval as both timely and impactful.

The student leaders also reaffirmed their loyalty and support for the Delta State Government, praising Governor Oborevwori for his responsiveness and dedication to the welfare of Deltans.
