Oborevwori Commissions 30 Housing Units for Soldiers in Agbor

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has inaugurated 30 one-bedroom flats for officers and soldiers of the 181 Amphibious Battalion in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, underscoring his administration’s commitment to the welfare of security agencies.

The Governor, represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, described the project as more than a housing scheme.

According to him, it reflects recognition of the Army’s sacrifices and a deliberate effort to strengthen security architecture in Delta State.

Oborevwori commended former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor (rtd), for initiating the project, while appreciating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for ongoing efforts to curb insecurity nationwide. He further lauded the 63 Brigade and 181 Amphibious Battalion for their role in combating oil theft and other criminal activities in the Niger Delta.

“The 30 flats we are commissioning today are not just buildings; they are a symbol of our resolve to uplift the men and women who risk their lives daily for our safety. Decent accommodation boosts morale, and with improved morale comes greater capacity to serve,” the Governor said.

He emphasized that the initiative is aligned with the Meaningful Development and Enhanced Peace and Security pillars of his MORE Agenda, stressing that sustainable development cannot be separated from security.
Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Godknows Angele, noted that the project was awarded in March 2023 and completed under Oborevwori’s administration, describing it as a bold step in supporting the Army.

Commanding Officer, Lt. Col. Bukar Dabo, expressed gratitude on behalf of the soldiers, while Ika South Council Chairman, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, and Chief Boniface Ebite, representing the Dein of Agbor, pledged continued community support.
