Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Thursday commissioned multiple development projects in Isoko North Local Government Area, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to extending the dividends of democracy to rural communities under the M.O.R.E Agenda.
The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, commended the Isoko North Local Government Chairman, Hon. Godwin Ogorugba, for delivering people-oriented projects that reflect the state’s development blueprint.
“It is with immense joy and deep satisfaction that I stand here today, not just as your Governor, but as a proud witness to the tangible dividends of democracy being delivered right here at the grassroots,” Oborevwori said.
He praised the Council for aligning local development initiatives with the M.O.R.E Agenda—Meaningful development, Opportunities for all, Realistic reforms, and Enhanced peace and security—which his administration has championed across the state.
Oborevwori recalled issuing clear directives to newly sworn-in council chairmen in July 2024 to invest available resources in projects that directly impact the lives of citizens. He expressed delight that Hon. Ogorugba and his team had not only met expectations but exceeded them within just one year in office.
“The progress you see in Asaba, Warri, and across our three senatorial districts must be mirrored here, where our people live and work,” he said.
He described the newly commissioned projects as symbols of improved governance, economic empowerment, and renewed community pride, urging residents to take ownership and ensure proper maintenance.
“To the people of Isoko North, these projects belong to you. Guard them jealously and ensure they serve the purpose for which they were built for generations to come,” he added.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to “finishing strong,” pledging continued partnership with local governments that demonstrate accountability and passion for service.
In his address, Hon. Ogorugba outlined his administration’s efforts to tackle inherited challenges while driving infrastructure upgrades, social services, and economic growth in line with the M.O.R.E Agenda.
Also speaking, the President General of Ozoro Kingdom, Mr. Berkley Asiafa, described the Isoko people as peaceful, industrious, and committed to supporting developmental initiatives.
Some of the projects commissioned include:
A new administrative office complex
A modern gatehouse
Construction of a block wall perimeter fence around the Council Secretariat Complex
Other infrastructure aimed at improving governance and service delivery
The event drew community leaders, government officials, and residents who expressed confidence in the administration’s commitment to grassroots development.
