Oborevwori delivers quality road projects in Delta – Izeze

Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, has expressed confidence in Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to delivering quality road projects across the state.

Speaking during an unscheduled inspection of projects in Warri South and Uvwie Local Government Areas, Izeze emphasized that the governor was dedicated to ensuring Deltans receive value for every penny spent on infrastructural development.

During the inspection of multiple project sites, the Commissioner highlighted the ongoing work and shared his satisfaction with the quality of construction being executed by various contractors.

At Central Hospital Road, Warri, the contractor was found on site, extending drains to channel water into natural waterways to prevent flooding before asphalting the road.

Izeze said, “We are satisfied with the contractor’s presence on site and the adherence to the Bills of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME).”

The project on Edo Guest House Road, Ekpan had been completed. Izeze noted that, “The residents are elated with the completed road, and it’s fulfilling to witness their appreciation. This is the essence of governance—bringing development to the people’s doorsteps.”

Though the contractor was not physically present at Ogbetuo Avenue, Effurun, the binder course had been laid, awaiting the finishing course.

The Commissioner stated, “The quality of the work so far is commendable. I can certify that the job is good enough.”

The Commissioner also visited Bright Hope Street, Okiemute Street, and Senator James Manager Street, Effurun to inspect the progress, especially as the contractor was raising the final certification.

He reiterated that every job requiring certification needed his physical inspection to ensure government was getting value for money spent. Noting that “supervision is key.”

At Uti Road, Effurun, the contractor was excavating and sand-filling the site with sharp sand, as specified in the BEME.

Izeze said, “The contractor is following specifications, and we expect them to accelerate their work once the rains ease so that the road can be completed and ready for inauguration.”

Izeze further assured that Governor Oborevwori’s promise to revamp Warri and its environs was steadily becoming a reality, with various infrastructural projects enhancing the quality of life for residents.
