Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Thursday, engaged in high-profile meetings in the nation’s capital, receiving newly confirmed non-career Ambassador Reno Omokri and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa.
Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and Delta indigene, paid homage to Governor Oborevwori shortly after the Senate confirmed his ambassadorial nomination alongside 63 others, including controversial figures like Femi Fani-Kayode and former INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu.
During the meeting Reno Omokri expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the appointment and appealed to the governor to assist in conveying his profound appreciation to the President for nominating him and extending forgiveness amid past political differences.
Omokri’s confirmation on December 18 followed the Senate’s adoption of the Foreign Affairs Committee’s report, marking a swift elevation to diplomatic status.
In a separate engagement, Governor Oborevwori received Minister Dangiwa for strategic discussions aimed at bolstering federal-state collaboration on housing and urban development initiatives.
The meeting highlighted Delta State’s commitment to partnering with the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda to deliver sustainable infrastructure, enhance living standards, and promote inclusive growth in communities across the state.
The meeting comes as Governor Oborevwori seeks to align Delta state priorities with national development goals, particularly in infrastructure and diplomacy.
