Oborevwori praises the legacy of Dame Grace Chinyere Okubor on her 93rd birthday

In a heartwarming tribute, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended his warm congratulations to Dame Grace Chinyere Okubor as she marks her 93rd birthday.

The matriarch of the illustrious Okubor family, hailing from the Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, has had a remarkable journey, leaving an indelible mark in various fields.

Dame Grace Chinyere Okubor, a retired teacher, midwife, nurse, and community health officer, retired from the defunct Bendel State Ministry of Health in 1983.

Governor Oborevwori, in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, praised Mrs. Okubor for her exceptional contributions to the nation’s progress.

“Okubor has been an exceptional force in the development of Nigeria, particularly through her roles as a retired nurse, teacher, and community health officer,” Governor Oborevwori stated.

He went on to commend her as a role model and an exemplary mother, who not only gave birth but also nurtured her children to become accomplished medical doctors, lawyers, and successful individuals in society.

“As a retired nurse and community health officer, you have continued to render indelible service to our state and country,” Governor Oborevwori added.

“Your outstanding accomplishments in the service of the defunct Bendel State Civil Service make us immensely proud. On behalf of my family, the government, and the people of Delta, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you, Dame Grace Chinyere Okubor, on your 93rd birthday.”

The governor also expressed his gratitude to God for Dame Okubor’s life, marked by sterling achievements and abundant fulfillment. He concluded his statement by offering a prayer for her continued good health and many more years of happiness and nation-building contributions.

Dame Grace Chinyere Okubor, a devout Anglican and a Knight of the Anglican Church, is the proud mother of several accomplished individuals, including Dr. Festus Okubor, a former Delta State Commissioner for Information; Mrs. Grace Ogbuagu, a retired Principal special grade; Dr. Adeline Aluge; Barrister Victoria Irabor, Company Secretary at the Nigeria Security Printing and Minting Company, and wife of General LEO Irabor, the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff; Dr. Paul Okubor, Permanent Secretary at the Delta State Hospitals Management Board; and Arc Peter Okubor.

Her legacy continues to inspire generations within and beyond the Okubor family, making her birthday a cause for celebration and reflection on a life well-lived.
