Okonjo-Iweala Urges Stronger NDDC–State Government Collaboration at 25th Anniversary Plenary

Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (GCON), has called for deeper collaboration between the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and state governments in the region, describing it as vital to driving sustainable progress.

Speaking as guest speaker during the plenary session marking NDDC’s 25th anniversary, Okonjo-Iweala noted that one of the persistent challenges hampering the region’s growth is the lack of alignment in planning and execution between the Commission and state administrations.

She stressed that improved synergy would enhance project implementation, ensure better use of resources, and create a more coordinated approach to development.

Using the milestone celebration as a rallying point, the WTO chief urged stakeholders to embrace stronger partnerships as the foundation for delivering lasting change in the Niger Delta.
