Okuama Leader’s Release: Ewu monarch commends Oborevwori, Dafinone, Nigerian Military

His Royal Majesty, Clement Ikolo, Urhukpe I, Ovie of Ewu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, has expressed his appreciation to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and Senator Ede Dafinone of the Delta Central Senatorial District for their exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to justice and reconciliation.

In a statement, the monarch emphasized that the release of Pa Okugbaye from military detention is a testament to their dedication to fostering peace and harmony within the Okuama community and beyond.

“Governor Oborevwori’s leadership has been instrumental in promoting dialogue among stakeholders and addressing the tragic Okuama incident with compassion and sensitivity.

“His steadfast commitment to the welfare of all citizens is commendable. Likewise, Senator Dafinone’s relentless advocacy and hands-on engagement have been pivotal in achieving this resolution.

“The release of Pa Okugbaye into the Senator’s custody underscores his trusted role as a voice for the people and a champion of justice.

“The monarch also commends the Nigerian military for their humane handling of this sensitive issue. The decision to release Pa Okugbaye, particularly in light of his deteriorating health, is a compassionate gesture that ensures he receives the necessary medical care and family support.

“This act, even amidst the immense loss of 17 gallant soldiers, reflects the military’s balanced approach to justice and humanity”.

Acknowledging the complexities surrounding this tragic incident, the monarch encourages continued collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure that justice is served.

“The establishment of a Board of Inquiry by the Nigerian military is a commendable step towards achieving transparency and a fair resolution.

“The combined efforts of Governor Oborevwori, Senator Dafinone, and the Nigerian military exemplify the power of constructive dialogue and effective leadership.

“Their unified approach has not only facilitated the release of Pa Okugbaye but also laid the groundwork for fostering peace and rebuilding trust within the Okuama community.

“The monarch urges the Nigerian military to expedite their investigations and ensure a conclusive resolution to this matter.

“Prosecuting those found culpable, while releasing innocent individuals who may have been inadvertently detained, will uphold justice, restore confidence in national institutions, and contribute to long-term peace and stability.

“The Ewu-Urhobo Kingdom remains committed to supporting all efforts aimed at justice, accountability, and reconciliation. We encourage all parties to continue working collaboratively toward building a united and peaceful society, it added.
