Onos Dedicates Nigeria-France Sports Award win to Governor Oborevwori

In a touching moment, Onoriode Oborevwori, also known as Onos and Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, expressed heartfelt thanks after being honored with the Best Commissioner of the Year Award at the third Nigeria-France Sports Award.

The event, held on October 20 at the elegant Maison Des Arts in Le Plessis-Robinson, Paris, brought together key figures from Nigeria’s sports community to celebrate outstanding leadership, grassroots development, and international partnerships.

Organized by Babatunde Ojora, a Nigeria-based sports journalist and media entrepreneur, and the founder of OJB Sport, the ceremony continues to highlight individuals who make a meaningful impact locally while influencing the global sports scene.

After receiving his award, a visibly moved Onos shared: “I’m so happy to win this award. It was unexpected and honestly a bit of a shock. I want to thank God Almighty for this honor. I dedicate it to my family, my elder brother, the Governor of Delta State, and the wonderful people of Delta State—especially my athletes. They are the reason I’m here today. Thank you all, and God bless.”

Since taking office in November 2024, Onos has established himself as a visionary leader in Delta State’s sports sector. He has continued the state’s strong tradition of youth sports development, with a focus on school sports, gender-inclusive programs, and talent discovery, helping to keep Delta State at the forefront of sporting excellence nationwide.
