Onyeme Foundation Expands Scholarship Support with Over ₦150m for Delta North Students

More than 300 undergraduates from Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency have successfully passed the qualifying aptitude test for the Monday Onyeme Foundation Scholarship Scheme, making them eligible for a minimum of ₦200,000 each.

With this milestone, the Foundation, spearheaded by Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, will disburse over ₦60 million to students from Ndokwa/Ukwuani alone.

The initiative, designed to cushion the financial challenges of higher education, continues to expand its reach across Delta North Senatorial District.

On Friday, over 150 successful candidates emerged from the Ika Federal Constituency exercise, translating into more than ₦30 million in scholarship awards for that constituency.

The programme continued Sunday with Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, scheduled at Dennis Osadebay University (DOU), Asaba.

Deputy Governor Onyeme, who personally oversees the aptitude tests, emphasized that the scheme is rooted in his belief that education is a powerful tool for transformation, not a scam.

His hands-on involvement, observers noted, reflects a deep commitment to nurturing academic excellence and supporting the next generation of leaders.

This year’s edition is expected to surpass ₦150 million in total disbursements, continuing the steady growth of the scholarship scheme.

In 2024, the Foundation awarded over ₦100 million, a record that is now on course to be exceeded.

At the Iyiatu Primary School venue in Ndokwa/Ukwuani, where the latest exercise was held, successful candidates expressed gratitude for the support, describing the scheme as a life-changing opportunity.

As beneficiaries prepare to receive their stipends, the Onyeme Foundation has once again drawn commendation for its role in promoting access to education, easing financial burdens, and inspiring students to aim higher in their academic pursuits.
