The programme, known as the EKO Empowerment for Sheriff’s M.O.R.E. Agenda, took place at the Oshimili South Local Government Secretariat and attracted a large turnout of traders, persons living with disabilities, and other vulnerable members of the community.

According to the Governor, the empowerment programme is a practical step toward grassroots development and ensures that the dividends of democracy reach communities at the lowest levels.
He noted that as the year draws to a close, supporting citizens through empowerment is a meaningful way to mark the festive season and equip them for a more sustainable future. He also emphasized the importance of peace, describing it as a key factor for social and economic development across the state.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Council, High Chief Obi Kelvin Ezenyili, reiterated his administration’s dedication to empowering youths, women, and men through skill acquisition and support for small-scale enterprises.
He explained that the programme was intentionally designed for the festive season to assist business owners who may need ₦50,000 to acquire basic equipment or up to ₦100,000 to restock their shops.
Beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation to the council chairman, describing the initiative as clear evidence of responsive and effective grassroots governance, and pledged to make good use of the support provided.
