Ovie of Agbarha-Otor, Ebelle asks Tinubu to reverse ‘harsh’ economic policies

Oghenevwogaga Richard Ebelle, the secretary-general of the Urhobo council of traditional rulers, has asked President Bola Tinubu to reverse “harsh” economic policies affecting citizens.

Ebelle, who is the Ovie of Agbarha-Otor kingdom, gave this advice during his investiture as a distinguished fellow of the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management (CIISM) at his palace in Ughelli North LGA of Delta state.

The traditional ruler said the level of hardship in the country is high, which requires serious and urgent solutions through intentional decisions by the president and members of the federal executive council (FEC).

He said all economic policies that directly or indirectly cause high inflation, low quality of life and extreme hardship should be discontinued immediately. He cited the increase in petrol price and naira float as the factors that have resulted in high cost of food items, medicine and transportation.

Ebelle said the deliberate lack of maintenance of the country’s refineries has led to importation of fuel and that those in charge of the lucrative deals in successive administrations made it difficult to allow the four refineries to work effectively.

He appealed to the president to break the jinx by ensuring that the refineries in Port Harcourt, Kaduna and Warri start working and distributing fuel and other petroleum products without further delay.

Adelanke Oyintoke, the registrar and secretary of the Council of CIISM, while performing the investiture ceremony, described Ebelle as a distinguished traditional ruler and a shining example of royal dignity, class and selfless service to humanity.
