Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has criticised nightlife promoter Cubana Chief Priest over his recent comments attacking President Bola Tinubu for keeping IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu in detention.
Cubana Chief Priest had warned on Thursday that Tinubu’s political chances in the South-East would suffer after a court sentenced Kanu to life imprisonment on seven terrorism-related charges. He claimed the president would “never get up to 10,000 votes” from the region in the 2027 elections if Kanu remains jailed.
Responding in a viral video on Friday, Portable accused Cubana of being hypocritical, alleging that despite his access to the president, he never used the opportunity to push for Kanu’s release.
“When you visited President Tinubu, you only went there to chase your personal interests. You didn’t remember to ask for your brother, Nnamdi Kanu, to be freed,” Portable said.
He also dismissed Cubana’s warning that Tinubu would lose support in the South-East, insisting that the region would still give the president votes in 2027. “You’re saying Tinubu won’t get votes from the South-East? Stop joking. Money will speak, and your people will take it,” he added.
Portable further accused Cubana of focusing on personal gains during his trip to the Presidential Villa. “You went to take pictures, collected money and a contract, and forgot the person you claim to be fighting for. Tinubu will win again,” he said.
The back-and-forth has sparked widespread debate online, reigniting discussions about Kanu’s imprisonment and its potential political impact ahead of the 2027 general elections.
