As part of the events marking the International Day of the Girl-Child, the PREFEL Foundation for the Girl-Child, led by its founder, Dr. (Mrs.) Precious Emuoghenerue Omoruwou, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area, Hon. Eldr. Prince Godwin Ogorugba.
The visit was in preparation for the official launch of the foundation’s flagship campaign, “Books Before Boys”, scheduled to take place on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Opute Hall in Ozoro.
During the visit, the Foundation shared its vision and reinforced its main goals: to champion education as a key to empowering every girl, boost girls’ confidence and leadership abilities so they can succeed in society, push for equal access to education and leadership roles, and support girls’ health and well-being by providing learning tools and hygiene supplies.
One of the key highlights of the October 10 event will be the distribution of the newly released book “Books Before Boys” to secondary school girls across the local government area. Written by Dr. Mrs. Precious Omoruwou, the book encourages young girls to prioritize education and personal development over distractions, aiming to inspire them to reach their full potential.
The event will also include a special competition, at the end of which one of the participating girls will be named the Girl-Child Ambassador a role that celebrates leadership and empowerment among young women.
She will act as a role model and advocate for young girls in the community, promoting the importance of education, strong leadership, and living with purpose.
Over the years, PREFEL Foundation has been a strong advocate for the Girl-Child, running annual programs that provide school uniforms, learning materials, bags, and sanitary pads to girls in both urban and rural areas. These efforts have helped break down obstacles to education, giving girls the tools they need to stay in school and chase their dreams.
The Executive Chairman of Isoko North praised the Foundation’s meaningful work and promised his full support for the upcoming campaign.
The Foundation also expressed gratitude to the Girl-Child-friendly Governor, Hon. Rt. Eldr. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his steadfast dedication to fostering an environment that supports the growth and advocacy of the Girl-Child.
The Books Before Boys launch campaign on October 10 is set to be a significant event focused on celebrating, educating, and empowering girls to learn, lead, and succeed.
