‎Remo Stars to Play Continental Games in MKO Abiola Sports Arena

Nigerian Champions, Remo Stars, along with Federation Cup champions, Kwara United, have received approval to host their initial preliminary round matches at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.

‎The Sky Blues Stars, whose permanent stadium in Ikenne is currently under renovation, will utilize the adopted home ground located in the Ogun State capital.

‎Daniel Ogunmodede’s team has been playing their NPFL home matches for the 2025/26 season at this venue, and it is now confirmed that they will compete against the Comoros Islands team, U.S Zilimadjou, in the CAF Champions League at the same location.

‎Thanks to the extensive efforts by the NPFL champions to enhance the facility, U.S Zilimadjou has also opted to host the reverse fixture of the match at the newly renovated stadium in the Gateway State.

‎Remo Stars aim to advance beyond the first stage for the first time in their history, with South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns awaiting them in the subsequent round.

‎The first leg of the matchup between Remo Stars and U.S Zilimadjou is scheduled for Sunday, 21st September, followed by the return leg on Friday, 26th September. Both games are set to commence at 4pm.

‎In the meantime, Kwara United, who will face the Ghanaian team Asante Kotoko in the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup, have also begun preparations to play in Abeokuta.

‎Despite the Harmony Boys, backed by the Kwara State Government, attempting to upgrade their home ground in Ilorin to meet CAF standards, reports indicate they fell short at the final stage.

‎Tunde Sanni’s squad is set to travel to Ghana for the first leg against the Porcupine Warriors this Sunday, before hosting the return leg of the encounter on Sunday, 28th September. The return leg at the MKO Sports Arena is also scheduled to kick off at 4pm.
