Senator Nwoko lights up Abbi with 50 solar-powered streetlights

Senator Ned Nwoko has commissioned 50 solar-powered streetlights in Abbi, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Delta State.

The event, which drew attention from across the region, marks a pivotal moment in the town’s growth, providing not only a boost to security but also a renewed sense of pride and progress.

The commissioning, attended by Senator Barinada Mpigi of Rivers South-East Senatorial District, marked a new chapter in the town’s development journey—ushering in light, safety and a renewed sense of communal pride.

The solar lights, now fully operational, span key access roads and public spaces in Abbi, improving nighttime security and stimulating local economic activity.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Senator Nwoko described the project as “a symbol of sustainable progress and a reflection of our commitment to bring development closer to the people.

“We’re not just installing lights,” the senator stated, “we’re igniting possibilities—helping small businesses thrive after dark, creating safer streets for families, and ensuring our communities benefit from the dividends of democracy.”

Highlighting the growing collaboration between himself and Senator Mpigi, Nwoko announced plans for a second phase of the project, which will see an additional 50 solar lights installed in Abbi. This partnership, he noted, transcends political lines and focuses solely on the collective good of the people.

Residents, traditional leaders, and dignitaries at the event hailed his consistency, calling the solar installation a “light-bearing legacy” that will benefit generations.
