Several sports events have been concluded in the ongoing 9th edition of the National Youth Games holding in Asaba, Delta State.
One of such events is shooting range sports which had eighty four athletes from twenty states that competed for six available medals.
Some athletes that won medals in shooting range sports said they were excited to make their states proud with their outstanding performance .
Commenting on the successful conclusion of the shooting range, the North East Representative on the Shooting Range Federation of Nigeria, Retired Air Commodore Yinatu Garabu expressed delight for the turn out of athletes and unprecedented increase in number of states that participated in the shooting range at the 9th National Youth Games.
She appealed to the National Sports Commission to increase the number of medals for shooting range sports to make it more attractive to athletes.

Air Commodore Garuba stressed the need for state government to invest in shooting range facilities for training of youths who are interested in shooting range sports
Imo State Coach for shooting range, Francis Okechukwu Okuwu said he was excited that one of his athletes won the first gold medal for Team Imo. Okuwu said four of his athletes made it to the final but only one of them clinched a gold medal .
While noting that inadequate shooting range facilities in many states posed a great challenge, he said he had to improvise the facilities with which he trained the athletes that represented Imo State in shooting range sports at the ongoing 9th National Youth Games.
