Tinubu’s agenda is ‘dawn of a new era’ – Okumagba

A member of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Governing Board, and a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Bernard Okumagba, has applauded the agenda of President Bola Tinubu, describing it as “dawn of a new era.”

While congratulating the President and Vice President, Kashim Shettima, on their inauguration as the 16th President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he wished them success in guiding the country towards stability, true democratic governance and economic development.

Okumagba described Tinubu’s inaugural address as “unequivocal commitment to progressive governance in furtherance of Nigerian ideal succinctly captured in his five governance principles.”

He said the principles that would guide Tinubu’s administration, as outlined by the President, include governing according to the constitution and rule of law, defending the nation from terror and all forms of criminality that threaten peace and stability of the country, remodeling the economy for growth and development through job creation, food security and ending extreme poverty.

Okumagba also applauded Tinubu’s promise to address the nation’s economic problems, as well as his directive to make monetary policy more business friendly and work towards a unified exchange rate.

In a statement, yesterday, Okumagba, a former Delta State Commissioner for Finance, reckoned that the new President, who, he said, has an established reputation as a bridge builder, true progressive, an astute believer in true federalism, and who has, over the years, sacrificed to ensure sustenance of democracy in the country, will bring these remarkable skills and attributes to bear in renewing hopes of Nigerians for a more prosperous nation.

The former commissioner appreciated the significant role Tinubu played in seeking solutions to political and economic challenges in the country.

He recalled that Tinubu’s remarkable transformation of Lagos State as governor between 1999 and 2007, as well as his knack in ensuring incredible successive leadership in Lagos, has made the state an attractive destination to live in, work and play.

He said: “I look forward to your tenure marked by peace and prosperity through inclusive national reconciliation process, focus on confronting insecurity through reform, growing the economy and tackling multi-dimensional poverty, which would boost Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

“These would create a robust middle class that would rebound our country’s economy.”
