Over fifty traders at the Usiefrun community market in Ughelli South Local Government Area received a surprise cash empowerment to support their small scale businesses courtesy of the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Entrepreneurship Dr Paul Gelor.
Dr Gelor while presenting the cash to the benefiting traders said the gesture was to promote the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at the grassroot.
Presenting the surprise cash support to some of the traders in Usiefrun market, the executive assistant to the Governor on Entrepreneurship Dr Paul Gelor disclosed that the direct cash support programme is mainly targeted at those involved in petty trade to enable them expand their small scale businesses.
Dr Gelor who hails from Usiefrun community equally disclosed that the direct cash support program is also part of his efforts to ensure that the traders who play major roles during campaigns and election days through mobilisation are rewarded and benefits from the positive impact of Governor Oborevwori’s More Agenda.
The EA to the Governor on Entrepreneurship told the traders that the Oborevwori’s administration recognizes their contributions to his emergence as Governor and called on them to continue to support the More Agenda which he said has brought hope and massive Joy to Deltans.
Dr Gelor who assured the traders that he would re-visit the market again for another round of the empowerment program told the traders to look beyond the amount but add it to their business and be diligent in their business.
In an interview, former Vice Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government, Mrs Victoria Djowah and the APC unit chairman in Usiefrun, Mr Joseph Ehiekevwe all lauded Dr Gelor for the initiative saying it will go along way in securing victory for the party come 2027.
They however called on the traders not to use the money frivolously but add it to their business in order to expand it and add value to their lives.
Some of the traders who could not hide their Joy thanked the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Entrepreneurship for allowing the benefit of the More Agenda trickle down to them.
