Traditional Chief, two others dragged to court for alleged cement theft in Ughelli

A traditional chief, named Rose Akamu, and two other suspects were arraigned before the Ughelli Magistrate Court (Case No. MU/157C/2025), on Tuesday, for allegedly stealing over 400 bags of cement from a storage facility in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State.

During the court session, the charges were formally read to the defendants, marking a crucial step in the legal process. The suspects were granted bail in the sum of ₦1,050,000 each, with the requirement of a landed property owned in Ughelli as surety.

This high-profile case highlights the ongoing efforts to combat theft in the Ughelli North Local Government Area.

The arraignment of a traditional chief and accomplices underscores the commitment to upholding the rule of law, regardless of social status in the society at large.

The case was adjourned to July 31, 2025.
