Troops Neutralize Three Kidnap Suspects in Fierce Otulu Shootout, Victims Rescued as Soldiers Recover Cash, Weapons, and Ammunition

Security operatives in Delta State have foiled a kidnap operation, killing three armed suspects during a gun battle in Otulu community, Aniocha South Local Government Area.

According to official reports, the incident followed the abduction of a driver, Mr. Igiri Samuel, and a female staff, Miss Mercy Iteshi, both employees of Seth Integrated Farms.

The victims were kidnapped on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the rear of the Oshimili North Local Government Secretariat, Akwukwu-Igbo.

Acting on intelligence shared on August 17, troops of the 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Asaba, working with the Delta State Government House Tracker team, traced the suspects from Atuma-Iga to Otulu.

The confrontation resulted in a heavy exchange of gunfire that left three members of the kidnap gang neutralized.

Security operatives recovered the following from the scene: ₦2.4 million in cash, 52 rounds of live ammunition, One AK-47 rifle, Mobile phones and other valuables

Authorities confirmed that the female victim and a soldier sustained injuries during the operation. Both are receiving treatment at a medical facility.

The successful operation drew commendation for the gallant soldiers of 63 Brigade, Asaba, the Otulu Vigilante Group, and the Safe City Volunteer Foundation for their support in combating insecurity.

Officials urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide useful information to security agencies to strengthen the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
