Ughelli Rovers pips Delta Marines 1-0 to win the Asaba Super Cup

Ughelli Rovers FC has been crowned champion of the Asaba Super Cup 2024 sponsored by Bet9ja after securing a narrow 1 nil victory over Delta Marines FC at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria.

The final match which featured the two Nationwide League Division One sides was keenly contested by both sides, and was decided by a match winning goal by prolific striker, Great Udori, helping the Ughelli based side to their first ever silverware.

Great Udori was indeed one of the bright stars of the Cup competition after netting a brace in the Semi Finals against Asaba City FC on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, to give Ughelli Rovers a 2-0 victory over the Asaba based side.

This was the second ever meeting between Ughelli Rovers FC and Delta Marines FC in competitive matches after their first meeting during the 2024 Nationwide League One ended in a 1 – 1 draw in Kwale Stadium.

Delta Marines FC had qualified for the Final by defeating Delta Lions FC off Illah, 2 – 1, with prolific teenage striker, Austine Ebikemiebornimughan who has scored 9 goals in 11 official competitive matches in 2024 year across the FA Cup, Nationwide League and Asaba Super Cup, netting a late winner for Delta Marines FC after Chris Nzeh scored the equalizer for Delta Marines FC following the opener from Delta Lions attacking midfielder, Nnabuife Chukwurah.

All the four matches of the Asaba Super Cup 2024 edition which was sponsored by Bet9ja will be on Hudl WyScout platform. The winners will have an automatic qualification to defend the title in the 2025 edition.
