Ukwuani PDP Gets New Caretaker Committee

In a fresh move to revamp and consolidate its structure across Delta State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led at the state level by Prof. Sylvester Monye, has inaugurated caretaker committees in all 25 Local Government Areas of the state.

As part of the process, senior party stakeholders were assigned to Ukwuani Local Government Area on Tuesday, where they officially inaugurated the PDP Caretaker Committee for the council.

At the ceremony, Dr. Eze Christian Edike was named Chairman of the Ukwuani LGA Caretaker Committee. Mr. Ojeje Jonah was appointed Vice Chairman, while Hon. Onyuku Karios emerged as Secretary. Other members include Madam Maria Chukwuma as Woman Leader; Hon. Christopher Enyashi as Youth Leader; Mr. Omaha Chukwuma Joel as Treasurer; Mr. Otadozi Ugochukwu as Financial Secretary; Pastor Morrison Ochonogor as Public Relations Officer; Mrs. Rose Enudi as Auditor; and Comrade Edike Kingsley Eluemunor as Legal Adviser.

Five ex-officio members were also inaugurated: Mr. Okwuchukwu Chukwujindu, Mrs. Ojibi Queen, Mr. Onyenike Thompson, Mr. Ogodu Clement, and Mrs. Opute Magdalene.

Following the announcement of the committee’s composition, the oath of office was administered, and the members formally pledged to uphold both the party’s constitution and that of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. They also vowed to carry out their responsibilities with fairness, integrity, and without bias.

In his remarks, the newly appointed Chairman, Dr. Edike, thanked the state leadership for entrusting him and his team with the responsibility. He assured party faithful that the committee would operate strictly within the party’s constitutional framework to rebuild and reposition the PDP in Ukwuani.

He emphasized that the goal is to restore the party’s strength in the area and establish it as a credible and formidable opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Shortly after the inauguration, Dr. Edike held a strategy meeting with the new executives to outline plans for the swearing-in of ward executives across the local government.

The committee subsequently fixed March 7, 2026, for the inauguration of ward leaders in a centralized ceremonyan initiative party leaders say is designed to accelerate grassroots mobilization and reinforce the PDP’s organizational base in Ukwuani.
