United Nigeria Airlines Accepts Apologies from VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof After Onboard Incident

United Nigeria Airlines has accepted the public apologies issued by Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, and content creator Freedom Atsepoyi, popularly called Mr Jollof.

The airline confirmed this in a statement shared on its X page, adding that it has taken note of the creators’ promises to behave responsibly while on board.

United Nigeria’s Public Relations Officer, Chibuike Uloka, explained that the apology comes after the confrontation that took place during the boarding of Flight UN0523 from Asaba International Airport to Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport on 17 November 2025. The statement read: “United Nigeria Airlines acknowledges and accepts the public apologies issued by VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof following the onboard altercation that occurred during the boarding of Flight UN0523 from Asaba International Airport to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on 17 November 2025.

“We note their commitments on social media to avoid any behaviour that could jeopardize aviation safety, order, or decorum on our flights or on any other airline. We trust they will uphold this pledge to help maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly travel environment for all passengers.

“We also appreciate the prompt and coordinated response of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Airport Security (AVSEC), other aviation agencies, the Asaba International Airport Authority, and our crew and operations team, who handled the situation professionally and in line with safety procedures.

“As an airline, we remain aligned with the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and all regulators in the ongoing effort to reduce unruly passenger behaviour across the aviation sector. We encourage all passengers to cooperate with airline staff, security officers, and airport authorities to help protect the safety and integrity of air travel in Nigeria.”

United Nigeria Airlines further reaffirmed its commitment to aviation safety and stressed the importance of passengers following all safety guidelines to ensure a secure and orderly travel experience.
