Warri Wolves Tear Katsina United Apart

Rangers International and Warri Wolves both ended their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 21 outings on a high note. Both clubs secured crucial victories as the final fixtures of the round concluded yesterday. Consequently, these results have caused significant movement in the middle and top sections of the league table.

Warri Wolves Dominate in Ozoro

Meanwhile, at the Southern University Stadium in Ozoro, Warri Wolves made full use of their home advantage. They secured a convincing 2-0 win over Katsina United.

The first half was a quiet affair and ended without any goals. However, the “Seasiders” came out much stronger after the break. They finally broke the deadlock in the 47th minute through Igbunu Evwierhurhoma.

Just four minutes later, the home side struck again. Chisom Orji doubled the lead with a well-taken finish in the 51st minute to seal the points for the hosts. This victory lifted Warri Wolves to eighth position with 30 points. Conversely, Katsina United dropped to 10th place as the league campaign continues to gather momentum.

Rangers Snatch Late Victory in Oriental Derby

At the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, Rangers International produced a stunning performance to edge out Kun Khalifat FC. The match was a fiercely contested Oriental derby that kept fans guessing until the very last second.

The visitors took the lead in the 44th minute through Chidozie Iwundu. After that, the game became a defensive battle until late in the second half. Kun Khalifat eventually found an equalizer in the 87th minute through James Ekebuike. At that point, the home team looked set to escape with a draw.

However, Rangers showed incredible character and resilience in the final moments. Iwundu struck again deep into stoppage time, scoring the winner in the 96th minute. As a result, Rangers moved up to fifth place on the standings with 33 points. Meanwhile, Kun Khalifat remain at the bottom of the table with only 18 points.

In summary, Matchday 21 has proven to be a turning point for several clubs. Rangers are now within touching distance of the top four, while Warri Wolves are establishing themselves as a formidable force at home.
