Youths of Ewu kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State have appealed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to give Staff of Office to their esteemed monarch, HRM Clement Ikolo.
The youths in a statement signed by their President, Comrade Ovie Obaruara and former Youth President, Ughelli South, Comrade Francis Akatika, stated that the Staff of Office holds significant importance within the kingdom as the Delta State Executive Council has approved the appointment of the Ovie.
According to the youths, the presentation of the staff of office is the state government symbol of authority and it will usher Ewu kingdom into the comity of Traditional Rulers with Staff of office in Delta State.
The youths believe that the delay is hindering effective governance and representation of their interests by their monarch.
They emphasized their deep reverence for their monarch, highlighting his unwavering commitment to the welfare and development of the people.
“Our revered monarch has tirelessly served our community, resolving disputes, fostering unity, and spearheading initiatives for the betterment of our people. It is only fitting that he receives the Staff of Office to further bolster his position as our custodian of tradition and progress”, they added.
The youths also stressed the economic benefits that would accompany the presentation of the Staff of Office. They argued that the recognition of their monarch would attract investment opportunities and government support, leading to infrastructural development and increased socio-economic growth within the kingdom.
As anticipation builds within the Ewu Kingdom, residents eagerly await the response from Governor Oborevwori and the subsequent presentation of the long-awaited Staff of Office to their beloved monarch.
Recall that the Delta State Executive Council approved the appointment of HRM Clement Oghenerukevwe Ikolo of Ewu Kingdom as the Ovie, but the Ahavwa Kingmakers Council, a body responsible for crowning kings in Ewu Kingdom, Ughelli South Local Governemnt Area of Delta State, rejected the decision by the state government.
