The Delta State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, held its plenary session, during which Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor announced that the House had received a letter from Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori regarding his plans to present the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
In the letter, the governor informed lawmakers of his intention to appear before the Assembly on Wednesday to formally lay the budget. The Speaker read the message to the House and noted that arrangements would be made to receive the governor for the presentation.
The session also featured the screening of nominees for reappointment to the Delta State Civil Service Commission. Three nominees appeared before the House: Comrade Olumami O. Oyibo, Dr. Chief Akpufuoma I. Pemu, and Prince Mike Oputa. Comrade Oyibo, the first to be screened, was asked to step down and return at a later date to correct errors in his Curriculum Vitae. Lawmakers stressed the importance of accurate documentation, noting that the Assembly is an institution of records.
Dr. Chief Akpufuoma I. Pemu and Prince Mike Oputa, who followed, were cleared without objections and were officially confirmed for reappointment.
Earlier in the plenary, the House also received the Notice of Presentation and First Reading of the Delta State Public Health and Hygiene Bill, 2025 (HB.42). Sponsored by Hon. Engr. Emeka Emmanuel Nwaobi along with sixteen other members, the bill aims to repeal the outdated Public Health Law of 1957 and establish a modern framework for regulating public health and hygiene in the state.
