2ND ANNIVERSARY: Oborevwori gives account of stewardship

Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Wednesday, delivered a comprehensive State of the State Address before the Delta State House of Assembly in Asaba, to commemorate the second anniversary of his administration.

The governor used the occasion to outline key milestones achieved under his MORE Agenda—an inclusive governance framework centered on Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.

Reaffirming his commitment to infrastructure as a bedrock for economic development and social wellbeing, Governor Oborevwori announced the planned inauguration of 42 road projects across various parts of the state. These projects form part of a broader strategy to enhance connectivity, facilitate trade, and improve access to healthcare, education, and other public services.

Among the projects highlighted are the dualisation of the Ughelli–Asaba Road (Sectors C1 and C2), construction of the Kwale–Beneku Bridge and approach roads, as well as significant rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in urban centres like Warri, Effurun, Sapele, Ughelli, and Asaba.

Interventions also extend to critical link roads in semi-urban and rural communities including Kokori, Abraka, Oghara, Akumazi, and Uwheru. Strategic access roads to healthcare institutions, police commands, military infrastructure, and riverine communities were also captured, reflecting a statewide and people-focused approach.

Governor Oborevwori also provided a mid-term account of stewardship, emphasizing strides made in fiscal discipline, economic diversification, civil service reforms, social protection, and youth empowerment. Flagship projects such as three flyovers and three slipways in the twin cities of Warri and Effurun were noted as progressing steadily, with commissioning scheduled for the first quarter of 2026. Other major road and infrastructure projects are similarly advancing, in line with the administration’s agenda for inclusive growth.

In response, the Delta State House of Assembly passed a unanimous vote of confidence in the governor’s leadership. The motion, moved by Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo and seconded by Hon. Edafe Emakpor, praised the governor’s prudent management of state resources.

A separate motion, moved by the Leader of the House, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi, and seconded by Hon. Ferguson Onwo, commended the administration for its achievements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and human capital development.

Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, in his remarks, applauded the governor’s strategic leadership and financial stewardship, noting that the state had witnessed remarkable progress under his watch.

Governor Oborevwori’s second anniversary address underscored a consistent and forward-looking vision anchored on performance, accountability and service delivery. The 42 road projects serve not only as tangible evidence of infrastructural development but also as a reaffirmation of the administration’s commitment to leaving no part of the state behind. With two years remaining in his tenure, the governor expressed confidence in delivering more impactful results through the continued implementation of the MORE Agenda.
