Davido Cancels July 3 Tottenham Performance

Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has revealed his decision to withdraw from his eagerly awaited performance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which was scheduled for July 3. He cited unresolved issues in the planning and execution of the event as the reason for his choice.

In a statement shared on his Instagram story on Saturday, Davido thanked his fans for their tremendous support and strong ticket sales but highlighted that ongoing logistical problems made it impossible for him to go forward with the performance.

“Over the recent weeks, I have given my full backing and professionalism to The Necto Future Group, promoters of @iconicpresents, with the genuine intention of putting on a show that aligns with the high expectations of my fans,” he stated.

“Despite the robust support from fans and remarkable ticket sales, significant misalignments regarding the event’s execution have emerged, particularly concerning essential elements needed to maintain the integrity and quality of my performance,” Davido elaborated.

The Grammy-nominated artist characterized the cancellation as a tough yet essential decision, reassuring fans that the event would still occur without him.

“Regrettably, these issues remain unresolved. Consequently, I must inform you that I will no longer be performing at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on July 3. Please be aware that the show will still go on, just not with Davido,” he mentioned.

Davido clarified that his choice was not motivated by a lack of enthusiasm from fans but was rooted in a commitment to professionalism and artistic integrity.

“This decision does not reflect the level of turnout or support; it represents a matter of principle and respect for my craft, my fans, and the culture I embody,” he asserted.

Despite the cancellation, the hitmaker assured that the other dates on his summer tour would continue as planned, with performances in Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Canada, and the U.S.

“London, I’ll see you all soon, I promise! The remaining shows this summer are still on track. 5ive is still alive! Looking forward to seeing everyone in Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Canada, and the U.S.! Africa deserves respect,” Davido concluded.
