The Delta State Government has underscored the importance of revenue decentralisation as vital to the economic prosperity of the Niger Delta region.
Speaking on Friday, April 17, during a high-level meeting with a delegation of the British High Commission in Government House, Asaba, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Kingsley Emu, emphasised Delta State’s rich oil, gas, and maritime resources, calling for a more equitable revenue return.
Mr Emu, while addressing the delegation, guaranteed an investor-friendly environment and significant prospects in the state and region as a whole.

In his remarks, Commissioner for Economic Planning, Sonny Ekedayen, who was also in attendance, tasked the United Kingdom to re-evaluate the security status of Delta State, referencing a sustained peace and security in the state.
The UK FCDO regularly places the Delta state in its travel advisories, warning its citizens to avoid travelling to certain areas of the region due to kidnapping, criminal activities and militancy.
In his remarks, Mr Harmish Tye, who led the British High Commission delegation, noted that the purpose of the visit was preliminary, to help foster connections, strengthen relationships and notify the state government of an official visit to the state in the near future.
