The Wife of the Governor of Delta State, Her Excellency Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, has urged women leaders across the state to promote unity, peace, and active engagement at the grassroots level as the Yuletide season begins and the state looks forward to the year ahead.
She made the appeal on Monday, during an End-of-Year Party held at Government House, Asaba, which was organised for the wives of senior government officials.
The gathering brought together wives of non-sitting members of the 7th Assembly, wives of members of the 8th Assembly, commissioners’ wives, council chairmen’s wives, and wives of party leaders.
In her remarks, Deaconess Oborevwori expressed heartfelt gratitude to God and commended the women for their sacrifices, loyalty, commitment, and courage. She described the event not merely as a social gathering but as a celebration of unity, shared purpose, and the strong bonds that tie them together.
According to her, women play vital roles at the frontline of community engagement by nurturing relationships and strengthening the connection between leadership and the people, thereby sustaining political and governance structures even during challenging times. She lauded the women for supporting the Oborevwori administration and the MORE Agenda, noting that their influence and mobilisation have helped spread the Governor’s vision and message across wards and communities throughout the state.
The First Lady also praised the various empowerment and humanitarian initiatives carried out by women in their communities, highlighting the recent distribution of palliatives to over 300 people in Osubi–Orereokpe by the wives of commissioners, led by Barrister Mrs. Oligida.
She further commended council chairpersons for distributing food items to 2,800 people across Delta State’s 25 local government areas, singling out the Chairpersons’ Coordinator, Mrs. Ella Chukwuweike, for her commendable efforts.
Deaconess Oborevwori encouraged the women to remain humble, loyal, and supportive of their husbands, while praying for peace in their homes and divine blessings in the year ahead.
The event concluded on a festive note, with the First Lady wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, urging them to celebrate the season in unity and peace.
