Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a 28-year-old man suspected to be involved in internet fraud over the alleged killing of his friend after a disagreement linked to a $1,000 transaction.
Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, said the incident occurred on January 21, 2026, in Agbarho community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State. He explained that the suspect, identified as Mr. Oghenegare, and the deceased, Mr. Courage, were friends who were reportedly engaged in internet fraud before an argument between them turned violent.
Edafe stated that during the confrontation, the suspect allegedly struck the deceased on the head, an action that resulted in his death. The police spokesman expressed concern over the growing number of murder cases in the state, attributing the trend to hot-tempered behaviour, drug abuse, and disputes that could have been peacefully resolved.
In a video circulating online, the suspect claimed that the deceased, whom he described as his childhood friend, had “logged” him out of the transaction process, a development he said triggered the dispute that led to the fatal incident.
