The Delta State Police Command says it has made notable progress in its fight against crime, announcing the rescue of four kidnap victims and the arrest of a suspected cultist as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard lives and property across the state.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, explained that the first breakthrough followed a kidnapping along the Ewu–Ajekuta Road on February 2, 2026, at about 9:30 p.m.
According to the police, five armed men believed to be kidnappers blocked the road and abducted four passengers traveling in a Toyota Sienna. After a distress call was received, the Divisional Police Officer of Otu-Jeremi quickly deployed officers, who worked alongside other security agencies and vigilant members of the Ewu community to respond to the incident.
In another operation carried out on February 3, 2026, officers from the Ibusa Division, acting on credible intelligence, stormed a suspected cult meeting at Anioma Garden in the Ugboli Quarters of Ibusa. One suspect, identified as Michael Ayauze, was arrested during the raid. Preliminary findings linked him to the Supreme Vikings Confraternity. Police recovered an English Beretta pistol, a live round of ammunition, and several charms, while other suspects managed to flee.
Reacting to the operations, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Aina Adesola, reiterated his determination to clamp down on kidnapping, cultism, and other violent crimes. He also called on residents to stay alert and continue to support the police by providing useful information through the appropriate channels.
