Delta Police refute murder report about kidnapped former Commissioner Onyemaechi

The Delta State Police Command has refuted an online report about the purported murder of a former member of the House of Representatives, and one-time Commissioner of Higher Education in the State, Hon. Joan Onyemaechi, also known as Ada-Anioma.

Kidnapers on Tuesday had forcefully taken Onyemaechi away from her church premises and killed her police orderly and driver attached to her in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, said the news of her murder was so far false and that her abductors had not made any contact with anyone.

“The deployment of a team of security personnel to the bank of the River Niger in both Asaba and Onitsha to verify her death or release, however, returned without success,” SP Edafe stated.

Recall that SP Edafe said the Police Command lost one of its officers in the attack and added that the Command was on the trail of the abductors and would give more details of the incident in due course.
