Delta State Pioneers Tech-Based Justice System Under MORE Agenda

The Delta State Government is set to launch a technology-driven Criminal Information System (CIS), a comprehensive digital platform that will capture biometric information and detailed criminal records of offenders at every stage of the justice process.

Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, SAN, revealed the initiative in Asaba during the fourth-quarter National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN).

He explained that the system will record fingerprints, eye color, and complete criminal profiles of individuals involved in the justice system whether they are arraigned, awaiting trial, being prosecuted, convicted, sentenced, or in correctional facilities. Ohwovoriole described the project as a key part of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, highlighting Delta State’s ambition to become one of Nigeria’s most technologically advanced justice systems. He noted that beyond aiding policing and prosecution, the database could also support background checks, employment screening, credit verification, and passport processing in the long term.

Earlier, LOAN National President Comrade Ernest Edomwonyi stressed the vital role law officers play in maintaining national stability, shaping policy, prosecuting cases, protecting human rights, and resolving disputes.

He called for extensive reforms, including a unified salary structure, better working conditions, improved research tools, regular professional development, transparent judicial appointments, and promoting law officers to permanent secretary roles.

Speaking at the event, LOAN Delta State Chairman Comrade Moses Agwere described the NEC meeting as a platform to review progress, tackle emerging challenges, and advocate for reforms that enhance the welfare and capabilities of law officers nationwide.

Other notable participants included the Head of Service, Dr. Mininim Oseji, and the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Omamuzo Erebe, SAN. The meeting featured strategic discussions aimed at guiding policy decisions and driving justice-sector reforms across Nigeria.
