Julius Berger Assures Warri Flyovers Ready by March

The Project Manager of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Mr. Thomas Haug, has assured that the three flyovers under construction along the Warri/Effurun corridor will be ready by the end of March.

The projects, awarded by the Delta State Government at a cost of N78 billion, include the Enerhen/Effurun flyover, which he said is about 97 percent complete.

He explained that while the major structures would be delivered as scheduled, some related road works would be wrapped up later. Haug declined to announce a commissioning date, noting that the state government would communicate that at the appropriate time.

Speaking on other ongoing works, he said the Osubi Road project is moving quickly and remains on schedule. According to him, construction activities have been intensified in anticipation of the rainy season, known for heavy downpours in the area. He also described progress on the Ughelli and Agbor flyovers as encouraging, pointing out that piling is currently ongoing at Uromi Junction for the Agbor project, while work at Otovwodo in Ughelli is advancing steadily.

Haug credited the smooth progress of the projects to the cooperation of host communities and the steady release of funds by the Delta State Government. In the same vein, the company’s Regional Manager for South and East, Mr. Friedrich Wiesa, said the firm has continued to turn challenges into real development opportunities through its projects in the state.

Meanwhile, residents and business operators have welcomed the pace of work, saying the projects are already transforming the area and stimulating economic activities. A commercial driver, Mr. Joseph Eseoghene, and an accountant, Mr. Jonathan Ojarikre, both based in Enerhen, praised Julius Berger for its commitment to timely delivery.

They noted that years of poor road infrastructure had limited social and business interactions and expressed hope that the completed projects would significantly improve life in the community and across the state.
